Quicky Update

November 17th, 2009 (05:36 pm)

Still alive. Trying (and failing) to write, as always.

Had a job, lost it, and am now working seasonal work at GameStop. It's a start.

Currently vacationing in Scottsdale, Arizona, and loving the weather...though I fly home tomorrow to what is apparently an epic rainstorm.

Does this even count as an update?

August 3rd, 2009 (02:12 am)

Alive. Functioning. Buying one of those tiny computers on which I will do nothing but write, as I realize that I get distracted by all the other stuff on my computer.

Working tech-support. Who knew?

I've dropped ten pounds. On a related note, I've started biting my nails again.

Twitter

June 9th, 2009 (11:44 am)
current mood: Headache

Mmkay, everyone. I finally caved and got a Twitter account.

Yeah, I know.

Here's the thing: I don't want to be following the lives of shallow celebrities. So I need people from my darling f-list to comment to this entry with their Twitter names.

Me? You can hit me up at http://www.twitter.com/themindisacity

Insomnia blows.

May 25th, 2009 (04:40 am)

It's almost 5:00 AM.

I'm still awake.

Furthermore, I've been in bed for the past several hours.

This is becoming a bit of a trend...maybe I should see someone about this.

Anyone have any sort of sleeping advice?

When you really get down to it, I have the worst birthday date ever. From Nazi dictators (Hitler) to school massacres (Columbine), a lot of bad shit happens on my birthday.

...except that George Takei was born on my birthday. And that's pretty awesome.

P.S. I'm 25 now.

Reno 911...Sadness?

March 12th, 2009 (06:28 am)

Mmkay.

If this (and other) promo pics are to be believed...then Wendi McLendon-Covey (Clemmie Johnson), Mary Birdsong (Deputy Kimball) and the ever-funny Carlos Alazraqui (James Garcia) will not be on Season 6.

This saddens me tremendously. Kimball was a late edition, so she won't really be missed as much, but come on. Two of the original cast members are leaving at once. And what's worse, one of them's Garcia. :(

Given that it's premiering April 1st, and the show has had a history of killing off their characters in season finales (such as last season) and bringing them back at the beginning of the following season...I'm hoping this is a big put-on and that my original deputies are still safe and sound on Comedy Central.

Because...seriously. SERIOUSLY. Not cool, Comedy Central.

Watchmen

March 4th, 2009 (12:20 am)

Got press passes to Watchmen tonight.

I think I liked it. I liked the way most of the narrative was framed, and I thought the soundtrack was great and well-used. While some of the story faltered (and to be fair, I haven't read the comic, so I have no basis of comparison) it is overall a solid, clearly labor of love film, and I would recommend it.

My friend Josh and I went to the theater something like two hours early to wait in line. The theater, which is licensed to sell alcohol, ran some sort of special where one could receive a promotional Watchmen button if one bought a "Comedian Martini." The problem seemed to be that no one at the theater knew what a Comedian Martini was...including the staff running the promotion.

But Josh wanted the damn button. And I was bored.

So finally, after much hemming and hawing, a manager comes up and decided that a "Comedian Martini" was just whatever martini was ordered. And so I stood in the lobby, drinking the worst Cosmopolitan I'd ever tasted...all for a stupid button.

Oh. And they let me keep the glass. Which has a button on the underside of the base that makes the stem light up in four different colors. And it's cheapo plastic. And I just realized that I left it at the stupid theater.

Ah, well. At least I have my R4 card in a semi-functioning state. Scotch tape can only last for so long; I guess I'll have to buy another one. Durr.

OH MY GOD I think I broke my R4 adapter.

I don't know howwwwwwwww. All of a sudden the Micro SD cards don't want to stay in the slot. Which has rendered the device useless, and I don't think I can crack it open to figure out what's wrong.

So now what am I going to play while I'm sitting in line for hours waiting for Watchmen?

I have a new best thing ever, and it is THIS.

That is all. Continue with your day, albeit a tad more enlightened to awesome than before.

(Hah. I just realized that I've posted this on Valentine's Day. That makes it funnier to me.)
